Jamie passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at the age of 79, surrounded by loved ones.

Throughout her life, Jamie embraced experiences with energy and determination. Whether she was working, spending time with family, enjoying one of her many hobbies or setting out on another road trip, she believed in making the most of the opportunities life offered.

Her passing leaves family members and friends reflecting on a woman who not only lived life on her own terms but also encouraged others to believe they were capable of achieving more than they imagined.

Jamie was remembered for her tenacity for life and her willingness to work hard while still finding time for adventure and enjoyment.

She had a wide variety of interests that reflected her personality. Softball, motorcycles, music, movies and road trips were among the things she enjoyed throughout her life.

Jamie was an avid softball player and motorcycle enthusiast who appreciated opportunities to remain active and experience something new.

Music and movies of all genres were another source of enjoyment, while road trips provided an opportunity to satisfy the adventurous side of her personality.

Those who knew Jamie understood that she rarely needed much convincing when another adventure presented itself.

A Life of Working Hard and Playing Hard

One of the philosophies associated with Jamie’s life was the idea of working hard and playing hard.

She carried that attitude throughout both her personal and professional life.

Jamie built an adventurous career that eventually culminated in her retirement from Sedgwick Claims Management Services. Her professional journey reflected the same determination that characterized so many other areas of her life.

But Jamie understood that life extended beyond work.

She made time for the activities, people and experiences that brought her happiness, creating memories that her loved ones can now carry forward.

Jamie Encouraged Others to Believe in Themselves

Family remained an important part of Jamie’s life.

She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie (Richard); son, Steven; Goddaughter, Shona; grandsons, Dillon and Elijah; sister, Molly (Larry); and brothers, Thomas (Lyn) and Michael.

Jamie also leaves behind many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Thelma Fleming, and her sister, Susan (Roger).

Her loved ones will now carry forward memories created during family gatherings, conversations, road trips and the countless ordinary moments that become especially meaningful following the death of someone close.

Friends and Caregivers Remembered With Gratitude

Jamie’s family has also expressed appreciation for the extended family members, friends and caregivers who supported her.

Special gratitude was extended to Brenda (Jack) and Melissa (Eric), as well as Jamie’s friends Cathy, CJ, Kim and Lori, whose friendship and support meant a great deal.

Her family also thanked OhioHealth Hospice for helping provide Jamie with care and dignity during the final months of her life.

That support became particularly meaningful as Jamie was able to spend her final moments at home surrounded by people who loved her.

The gathering will provide loved ones with an opportunity to remember Jamie, share stories and celebrate the experiences and relationships that defined her 79 years of life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the 2026 Walk to End Alzheimer’s – Athens, OH, Grandma’s Gang.

Jamie lived a life filled with family, determination, adventure and meaningful relationships.
