The Trimble community is mourning the passing of Jamie Lou McClelland, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, friend and adventurous spirit who died peacefully at her home on Thursday, August 13, 2026. She was 79.

She was an avid softball player and a motorcycle enthusiast, activities that allowed her to embrace both competition and adventure.

Movies and music were also important parts of her life. Her musical interests crossed genres, reflecting an appreciation for different sounds and experiences.

Perhaps one of the clearest expressions of Jamie’s adventurous personality was her love of traveling.

She was reportedly always ready for a road trip, welcoming opportunities to explore, spend time with people she cared about and create new memories.

Those adventures now form part of the many stories her loved ones can carry forward.

Family Was an Important Part of Jamie’s Life

Jamie leaves behind a loving family who will continue to preserve her memory.

She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie (Richard); son, Steven; Goddaughter, Shona; and grandsons, Dillon and Elijah.

She is also survived by her sister, Molly (Larry), and brothers, Thomas (Lyn) and Michael, along with many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jamie was preceded in death by her parents, James and Thelma Fleming, and her sister, Susan (Roger).

For her children, grandchildren, siblings and extended family, her passing brings the difficult reality of saying goodbye to someone who had been an important part of their lives for many years.

Family Expresses Gratitude to Friends and Caregivers

During Jamie’s final months, several people played important roles in providing companionship, assistance and support.

Her family expressed special appreciation to extended family members and caregivers, including Brenda (Jack) and Melissa (Eric).

They also thanked Jamie’s friends Cathy, CJ, Kim and Lori, whose friendship and support were described as especially meaningful.

The family additionally expressed gratitude to Ohio Health Hospice for helping provide Jamie with dignity and care during the final months of her life.

Their support allowed Jamie and her loved ones to navigate a difficult period surrounded by compassion and care.

The gathering will provide loved ones with an opportunity to share stories, remember Jamie’s adventures and support one another as they celebrate the life she lived.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the 2026 Walk to End Alzheimer’s – Athens, OH, Grandma’s Gang.

Messages of comfort for the family may also be shared through Morrison Funeral Chapel.
